Thursday, December 12, 2024  ::   The Village continues to remember and honor Oak Park Police Detective Allan Reddins, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Nov. 29. A livestream recording of the funeral services for Det. Reddins is available online.
Wednesday, December 4, 2024  ::   Funeral services for fallen Oak Park Police Detective Allan Reddins will take place next week on Dec. 11-12, and a candlelight vigil will occur this week on Fri., Dec. 6, the one week-anniversary of his death. Reddins, a Chicago native, was killed in the line of duty on Fri., Nov. 29, when responding to a call.
Monday, December 2, 2024  ::   Men’s mental health matters, and the Village is working with community partners to to break the stigma around the topic. This includes hosting a panel discussion focused on men's mental health on Dec. 11 at Willard Elementary School in River Forest.
Saturday, November 30, 2024  ::   A 37-year old Chicago man with an extensive criminal background has been charged in the shooting death of an Oak Park Police officer during an encounter on Fri., Nov. 29 on the 800 block of Lake Street in Oak Park.
Friday, November 29, 2024  ::   It is with great sadness that the Village of Oak Park announces that Oak Park Police Detective Allan Reddins was killed Friday, Nov. 29 in the line of duty while responding to a call involving an armed offender.
Wednesday, November 27, 2024  ::   With temperatures forecast to plunge overnight on Fri., Nov. 29, the Village of Oak Park’s Emergency Warming Center will be in operation from 8 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 611 Randolph St.
Friday, November 22, 2024  ::   The Oak Park Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at around 7 a.m. this morning in the 6300 block of Roosevelt Rd. Officers arrived on scene and observed an overturned vehicle (white 2013 Jaguar XJ) on the 6400 block of Roosevelt Rd. that had appeared to have struck a nearby cement barricade and tree. Officers determined that the person inside, Scott Robinson (male Black, Chicago resident, 34 years old), had been shot. The scene was secured and the Oak Park Fire Department arrived to treat the victim. Robinson was removed from the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m.
