Solar Switch program offers group buying for solar panels

Nov. 7, 2023 – Oak Park residents who are considering the installation of solar panels at their home can check out the Solar Switch Chicagoland program for potential cost savings.

This program, supported by the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) for Oak Park residents, is intended to make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to go solar. By joining the program, participants access a group discount that will help save on a turnkey solar and battery installation.

Solar Switch is a group buying program that uses bulk purchasing power to secure a good deal for participants.

In the most recent program, homeowners saved an average of $4,000 on a standard-sized solar installation. Available local and federal incentives can further reduce system costs, making solar energy more accessible than ever before.

Not only does the program make going solar more affordable, but it also focuses on solar education and consumer protections.

Solar Switch offers comprehensive consumer protections by making sure it works with trusted installers. Solar Switch vets installers, products, and warranties through a rigorous qualification process. Finally, the program strives to provide participants with a high-quality solar education.

Registering comes at no cost, and anyone who registers is under no obligation to buy solar panels.

To take advantage of this opportunity, Oak Park residents can register at  before December 12.

Our qualified solar installers will bid for the work in a reverse ‘auction.’ The best price wins the auction.

3. Personal recommendation

Based on your registration details, you'll get a personal recommendation. This includes your costs and the specifications of your installation.

4. You decide

Once you get the offer, you can decide if you want to accept and move forward with a site survey and potential installation.

5. Savings on electricity

After the installation, you can start enjoying your own clean energy and save on your electricity bills.
