June 6, 2022 – The Oak Park Police Department is investigating multiple reports of reckless discharge of a firearm that occurred around 11:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Ontario Street and Forest Avenue.
No injuries have been reported, but multiple shell casings were found in the area. Detectives continue to canvass the area to collect evidence.
Police are investigating a black SUV and red sedan that fled the area going westbound on Lake Street immediately after the incident was reported. At this time investigators believe the shooting was targeted and not a random incident.
The Police Department is stepping up patrols in the area of the shooting and throughout the community.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
