May 28, 2019 – At about 8:50 a.m., today (Tues., May 28) Oak Park Police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the vicinity of Division Street and Harvey Avenue.
Officers were near simultaneously responding to a report of a gunshot victim being treated at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. The victim, a 21-year-old Chicago woman, later died of her injuries.
Working with the Chicago Police Department, investigators determined that the two incidents may have related to a shooting that had just occurred in the 1200 block of North Mason Avenue in Chicago.
Witnesses where the gunshots were heard in Oak Park reported seeing a black vehicle flee north in the alley west of Harvey Avenue and a gray auto flee south on Harvey Avenue. Several shell casings were recovered near the intersection of Division and Harvey.
No injuries were reported in Oak Park.
