Aug. 31, 2019 - Oak Park Police are investigating a vehicle hijacking that occurred at about 8:30 p.m., Fri., Aug. 30 near the West Cook YMCA.
A 17-year-old Oak Park juvenile told Police she was walking from YMCA to her vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Randolph Street when she was approached by two offenders, one female the other male.
As the female asked to borrow the victim’s phone the male forcibly took her car keys from her hand and pepper sprayed her, she said. The pair then fled in the victim’s black Volvo S90.
The male suspect was described as African American in his late teens or early 20s. The female was described as African American in her late teens or early 20s, with her hair in a high ponytail and wearing a black and white windbreaker–style jacket.
The victim was transported to Rush Oak Park Hospital where she was treated for exposure to the pepper spray.
