Aug. 4, 2022 - The Oak Park Farmers’ Market is capping off National Farmers’ Market Week with its popular Corn Roast on Saturday, August 13.
Fresh-picked corn from Market growers will be sold by the ear hot off the roaster from 9:30 a.m. until supplies are gone at the Market in the Pilgrim Church parking lot at 460 Lake St.
Patrons are encouraged to bring cash to the event as credit cards are not accepted when purchasing roasted corn, which will be sold for $2 per ear.
This year's Corn Roast is a zero-waste event, meaning all corn cobs, wrappers and take-away bags can be composted.
The annual Corn Roast is Oak Park's way of joining markets across the country in the celebration of National Farmers' Market Week running Aug. 7-13.
This year’s campaign is hoping to bring awareness to the behind-the-scenes planning and support needed to make a market successful with its slogan, “Farmers’ Markets Don’t Just Happen”.
From now until Sept. 19, patrons can cast a vote for their favorite farmers’ market to win a $10,000 grant giveaway from American Farmland Trust and the Farmers’ Market Coalition. Click here to vote for the Oak Park Farmers’ Market.
