Oct. 5, 2016 - Local election officials are bracing for a big turnout for the 2016 Presidential Election, but options abound for voters looking to avoid potentially long lines when Election Day arrives on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 24 at Village Hall, 123 Madison Street, and continues daily right up to Election Day. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. During the week of Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, polls will be open extended hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Registered voters can also choose to vote by mail. To request a ballot, visit www.cookcountyclerk.com/elections, choose “Vote By Mail” in the left panel and fill out the application. The deadline to apply for a mail ballot is Nov. 3.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Voter registration cards with polling place information will be sent out by mail in the month before the election.
Paper ballots are available using vote by mail or at your polling place on Election Day, but early voting will be by touchscreen only.

Looking ahead: April 2017 municipal election
Residents interested in running in the municipal election scheduled for April 4, 2017 are now able to circulate petitions to be placed on the ballot. The petition filing period for the 2017 municipal election is Dec. 12-19.
