Metra has announced plans to close its ticket office in Oak Park effective Thurs., March 30. Commuters still will be able to purchase tickets using the mobile Ventra app or online via Metra’s website, as well as on the train at no additional cost. Officials say the decision to eliminate the ticket agent position in Oak Park is part of efforts to align resources with demand. Despite high ridership by Oak Park residents, Metra officials say historical data showed that ticket sales here are among the lowest at Metra stations with a ticket agent.
