Activities planned for Township Day
Oak Park will join townships across the state in celebrating Illinois Township Day on Wed., Sept. 21 with family friendly events designed to spread the word about the many community services offered by these local resources. Residents are invited to visit the Oak Park Township offices at 105 S. Oak Park Ave. and 130 S. Oak Park Ave. from 2 to 4 p.m. for an open house where representatives from the Assessor, Senior Services, Youth Services and General Assistance programs will be on hand to distribute information and answer questions. For information, call 708.383.8005 or visit www.oakparktownship.org.

Youth substance abuse assistance…Parents and guardians of middle school or high school aged youth are invited to enroll in FACE-IT (Families Acting Collaboratively to Educate and Involve Teens), a program that provides a confidential group setting to learn about and discuss the legal and health effects of substance abuse. Topics covered include communication, handling stress and underage drinking. Two-hour weekly sessions are held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays. Enrollment typically is for five to 12 sessions.
