An additional 12-passenger shuttle bus with a wheelchair lift will be available to transport area seniors, residents with mobility issues and caregivers thanks to an agreement between the Oak Park Township and Park District of Oak Park. The bus-sharing agreement means four vehicles will offer curb-to-curb transportation to medical appointments, local grocery stores, personal errands, field trips or other activities. A reservation is required and a donation of $1 each way is requested, but not required. Last year, Township buses provided more than 21,700 rides to doctor appointments, dialysis treatments, local stores, workshops and adult day care services. The added capacity is estimated to add another 6,000 rides per year. For more information on senior services, visit www.oakparktownship.org/services/transportation or call 708.383.4806.
