Discrimination complaints…Village Code defends the rights of individuals within the protected classes of race, sex, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, age, marital status, familial status, gender identity, source of income, military discharge status, gender expression, housing status or disability in the purchasing, leasing, securing a loan, renting or occupying housing or other real estate. Interest rates on security deposits…Tenants of apartment buildings containing four or more units are entitled to interest on their security deposits. Interest must be paid or applied toward rent within 30 days of the expiration of each 12-month period. Dispute resolution…Free mediation services are available to help landlords and tenants resolve issues that may be disrupting quality of life.
