April marks the 48th anniversary of the 1968 Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, religion, national origin and sex.
The Village passed a local Human Rights Ordinance the same year and continues to be committed to encouraging diversity and integration. Over the past year the Village and its housing partners have been working to increase coordination and revamp the annual rental housing management seminar curriculum with more information on fair housing.
Any person otherwise qualified who is denied or discriminated against in seeking housing should contact the Village for more information, conciliation or to file a formal, written complaint.
