Friday, June 24, 2016  ::   Oak Park will be getting 130 Divvy bikes at 13 stations beginning the week of June 26, the locations strategically chosen to provide residents and visitors with an additional two-wheeled transportation option.
Monday, June 20, 2016  ::   Public art is making a walk in the park a lot more interesting this summer. The Oak Park Sculpture Walk is back for a fifth season, with 12 sculptures now on display in an outdoor exhibit through Sept. 5 in Mills Park.
Monday, June 20, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating a shooting involving two vehicles stopped at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday at the traffic signal in the intersection of Austin Boulevard and the I-290 Expressway. A stray bullet apparently struck the window of a third car stopped in traffic and its driver sustained minor injuries from flying glass.
Monday, June 20, 2016  ::   Steven Drazner, who has served as Interim Chief Financial Officer for the Village since March, has been officially named to the top finance post. Drazner joined the Village as Deputy CFO in August, assuming the role of Interim CFO following the resignation of Craig Lesner who left the Village after nine years to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.
Friday, June 17, 2016  ::   A Chicago man was charged in connection with the early morning burglary Thursday of Element Cyclesport, 1101 Chicago Ave., after two residents reported seeing the man break the glass door, enter the store and steal a bicycle valued at nearly $1,000.
Thursday, June 16, 2016  ::   The first draft of recommended changes to local zoning laws that regulate virtually every aspect of land use in Oak Park will be presented to the public at open houses scheduled for June 28, and 30 at Village Hall.
Wednesday, June 15, 2016  ::   Oak Park Police are investigating two incidents within about an hour’s time where three pre-teenage girls were verbally harassed as they walked along neighborhood sidewalks late Tuesday afternoon. While descriptions of the suspect shared similarities, police have not determined if the two incidents are connected.
Friday, June 10, 2016  ::   The Village of Oak Park encourages block parties as a way to build community spirit, meet neighbors and have fun. Each block may sponsor two block parties per year, but since some weekends fill quickly, plan early to get preferred dates.
Thursday, June 9, 2016  ::   An Oak Park resident with experience in civil rights litigation and a wide range of property and municipal code actions has been selected as the new Assistant Village Attorney. Rasheda D. Jackson will assume her new duties at Village Hall on Mon., June 13.
Monday, June 6, 2016  ::   Oak Park is hosting free electronics recycling events the last Saturday of June, July and August. Residents can drop off outdated or unwanted electronic devices from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Works Center, 201 South Blvd.
