COVID-19 Testing

The Oak Park Department of Public Health is providing COVID-19 PCR and rapid testing at various locations. All testing provided by the Health Department is free and insurance is not required.

Time and location

Look for the Health Department’s mobile response van on the following dates for free testing: 

  • Tuesdays
    • 10 a.m. - noon and ​4- 6 p.m., Cheney Mansion - 220 N. Euclid Ave. 
    • dates available: 9/20*, 9/27*, 10/4, 10/11 (Location TBD), 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, 11/29
  • Wednesdays
    • 10 a.m. - noon, Main Fire Station - 100 N. Euclid Ave.
    • dates available: : 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30
  • Saturdays
    • 9 a.m. - noon, Oak Park Farmers' Market, 460 Lake St.
    • dates available: 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29​

One-time registration required

One-time advance registration is required to receive a test. Please complete the one-time registration prior to coming to receive a test. Choose "Village of Oak Park Public Health" as the location.

Individuals can walk-in anytime during testing hours provided they have completed the one-time registration form.

Types of tests available

Individuals seeking a PCR test will be able to choose from nasal swabs and saliva-based SHIELD tests. Results are typically available within 72 hours.

The Health Department also provides rapid antigen tests, with results typically available within 15 minutes.

Who should be tested?

The Health Department’s COVID-19 testing initiative is a resource for anyone in the community. Circumstances that may warrant a COVID-19 test include the following:

  • Individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
  • Individuals seeking a confirmatory PCR test after receiving a positive result on an at-home rapid test
  • Individuals who need a PCR test for travel
  • Individuals who need a PCR test for work
  • Parents of children who want to continue testing for their children once the school year ends, particularly if their children are attending summer camp
